HLTAID004 PROVIDE AN EMERGENCY FIRST AID RESPONSE IN AN EDUCATION AND CARE SETTING

This course describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to infants, children and adults. The course applies to educators and support staff working within an education and care setting who are required to respond to a first aid emergency, including asthmatic and anaphylactic emergencies. This course meets the regulatory requirements as stipulated by the Australian Children’s Education and Care Authority.


COURSE OVERVIEW:

This blended face to face and online course requires an online registration and quiz to be completed prior to attendance of a single day intensive delivery. The practical face to face component can be delivered onsite at your chosen venue or in an AIO classroom.

Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks. This course requires students to be physically capable of performing uninterrupted CPR for at least 2 minutes on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor.

Some of the topics include; responsibilities of the first aider, infection control, bleeding, shock, fractures, head injuries, heart attack, stroke, seizures, burns, injury prevention and injury management, eye injuries, soft tissue injury management, management of the unconscious victim, anaphylaxis, asthma, use of the (AED) automated, external defibrillator, basic anatomy, spinal injury care, bag valve mask resuscitation and legal issues as a first responder.

This course will provide participants with comprehensive knowledge of how to respond to an emergency and how to apply appropriate first aid procedures in an education and care setting.

DURATION:

7 hours of face to face assessment (including breaks). Candidates complete registration and a pre-learning quiz online prior to the face to face assessment.


COURSE LOCATION:

Delivery of this course will take place either on-site at your business, or in our training room at AIO Head Office (33 Randor Street, Campbellfield VIC).


COST:

$120 (minimum of 10 candidates or there will be a flat fee of $1,100 charged if less)
