HLTAID006 PROVIDE ADVANCED FIRST AID

This course provides individuals with the skills and knowledge to recognise and respond to life threatening emergencies using basic life support measures, as well as gaining additional skills in advanced techniques, injury/illness management, operating First Aid equipment and coordinating first aid activities until the arrival of medical assistance. This course provides training over and above the skills generally required by First Aid responders and is recognised by Work Safe as the required level of training for First Aiders in the workplace.


COURSE OVERVIEW:

This blended delivery unit requires an online registration and quiz to be completed prior to the attendance of a single day intensive of contectualized practical training and assessment in the classroom.

Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks. This course requires students to be physically capable of performing uninterrupted CPR for at least 2 minutes on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor.

Topics covered include; responsibility of the first aider, infection control, bleeding and shock, fractures, head injuries, heart attack, seizures, burns, safety and injury prevention, eye injuries, sprains, unconsciousness, managing medical conditions such as epilepsy, anaphylaxis, and asthma, using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), basic anatomy, advanced spinal care, and bag valve mask resuscitation.

DURATION:

HLTAID006 Provide Advanced First Aid: 7 hours of face to face assessment (including break times). Candidates have the option of completing registration and a pre-learning quiz either online or on the day via paper format for this course. If opting for the paper format, please allow an additional 45 minutes of delivery.


COURSE LOCATION:

Delivery of this course will take place either on-site at your business, or in our training room at AIO Head Office (33 Randor Street, Campbellfield VIC).
